After some further testing we have found that Jorum Open only have the last 50 items in the RSS feed which means we cannot use Yahoo Pipes. If our items are not on the RSS feed they do not show up.

I have put a permanent link in the sidebar to the GEESOER tag in Jorum. I will be looking in to more RSS solutions.

Resources now coming thick and fast

With Keele University now pushing up there material as fast as they can, we are now up to 29 items in JorumOPEN from C-change.

Remember to find them, just search on 'GEESOER' to pull them up

cheers

Ed - did that resource with "no author" have any other reference to its provenance? If not then it I guess it might be difficult to assess its quality as an end user as there is no way to tell where it came from. As you say in your post a common motivation for many to release OERs is to get profile either for themselves or their institution - if a resource has no reference to either then there might be a perceived, if not actual, quality issue. Although the resource in itself could give profile to the subject or discipline.

I have a question regarding our discussion on the potential use of the back-page to hold additional learning and teaching information- e.g. information that the author has not included, such as potential learning outcomes, etc. I thnk until we see a ‘live’ resource in the wild, so to speak, it will be hard to imagine how this will look, or if it is worth including. Maybe worth getting the very first live one and having a play with it, with the author’s permission?

@Mike Sanders
Yes, that's how I understand it. If the overall resource is covered by a licence that allows derivatives then the logo can be stripped out anyway, as long as attribution is still given. Problem solved.

worms indeed! :D institution x wishing to reuse resources from institution y but not wanting the logos visible could be a particularly wormy one. I guess if derivatives are permitted in the CC licence then removal of the logos is permitted under this as long as the attribution is correct?

Comment on Where do we store the Due Diligence Files? by Mike Sanders

I can only think that due diligence records would need to be kept somewhere “near” the resources they relate to. They would need to be available in the future for if a rights issue arises and the due diligence effort needs to be evidenced.

This also raises the question of how long do you have to keep due diligence records for? Potentially these records would need to be kept in an accessible and safe place for a long time – once the OERs are released – who can say when a rights holder might get in touch with an issue? I guess most issues will be covered by a robust take-down policy but in the rare case when a rights holder wishes to pursue things further then being able to put your hands on the original due diligence record will become important.
